We had our first visit to see the Gap Year students in Cambridge in September.

They were just settling in and starting classes. There was an exciting atmosphere, which was very communicative, taking me back to the days when I did exactly the same thing, but in the opposite direction.

Of course, that was a long time ago, when there was no internet, no channel tunnel and no low cost flights and it used to take me about 24 hours to get home. It was like coming to a different planet and it was great!

Communication has obviously changed since then, but I know that doesn’t necessarily make anything easier. There’s the English weather, the English food, the English mentality, the English quoi!

We are still so different, it’s wonderful!
